Board of Directors

Jean King was appointed to the TVC Board in 2004 by the City of Livermore and is currently serving as Chair.

She was raised on a typical family farm in southwestern Wisconsin. She attended University of Wisconsin in Madison and received BS and MS in mathematics. After college she took a job at Sandia Labs as a computer programmer.

Jean is very active in the community, serving on the boards of Livermore Vallley Performings Arts Center Board, Livermore Commission for the Arts, Livermore/Amador Symphony Assoc. and she is involved in local politics. Jean has more than a bit of adventure in her. She has already been to Russia, South America, Europe, Southeast Asia and Morocco.

Mary Roberts was appointed to the Board of the Tri-Valley Conservancy in 2007 by the City of Pleasanton and is currently serving as Vice-Chair. In addition she serves on the Board Governance Committe and Personnel Committee. 

From 1998 to 2006 Mary served as a Planning Commissioner for City of Pleasanton.  As a Commissioner, she was involved with numerous land use issues from neighborhood concerns to the General Plan Update. She has served several terms on the Board of the Friends of the Vineyards. 

She and her husband, Dr. Ford Roberts, who recently retired from his Pleasanton orthodontic practice of nearly 37 years, have lived and raised their four children in Pleasanton since 1972. They have an acre of vines, and make wine as a hobby at their home in the Vineyard Corridor; 2005 marked their 20th vintage. Mary received a B.A. from the University of Iowa, and a M.A. from Mills College.

Christopher Schlies joined the TVC Board as at-large Director in 2010 and is currently serving as Secretary, Chair of the Board Governance Committee and serves on the Resource Development Committee.   

He has been practicing law for 30 years and currently practices law in Downtown Pleasanton.  His focus is on small business consulting, estates, employee rights and real estate law.  He also operates a family business with almond and citrus orchards as well as a sauvignon blanc vineyard and commercial rental properties. 

Mr. Schlies is a California native, graduated from Amador High School in Pleasanton and U.C. Santa Cruz before receiving his J.D. from U.C. Davis.  He lives in Pleasanton with his wife Christine and their sons, Joseph and Dominic. 

  Michael Fredrich joined the TVC Board as at-large Director in 2010 and is currently serving as Treasurer, Chair of the Finance Committee and serves on the Board Governance Committeee.   

Michael grew up in a small town in southeastern Wisconsin. He received his BS in Chemistry from University of Wisconsin - Eau claire, his PhD in X-Ray Crystallography from University of Nebraska and did post doctoral studies in protein structures at Texas A&M.

He has lived in the Bay area since 1981. In the mid 1980's he began work in communication technologies and has worked as a software engineer for such companies as GE, 3COM and Cisco.  Michael has lived with his wife Diana in Livermore since 2005. He is a avid photographer.

Ryan Callahan was appointed by the Livermore Valley Winegrowers Association in 2011 and is currently serving on the Finance Committee and Resource Development Committee.

Ryan was born and raised in the Bay Area.  He graduated from California State University, Chico with a BS in Business.  After graduation he worked with his family at Callahan Properties.  In 2006 he founded Shamrock Development & Construction, providing turnkey services in the construction and development industries.

 

Ryan and his wife Stephanie, are busy raising their first daughter, Courtney.  He also enjoys working on restoration of vintage Military vehicles.

Connie Campbell was appointed by the County of Alameda in 2011 and is currently serving as Chair of the Resource Development Committee.

Connie’s father, former Alameda County Supervisor Ed Campbell, was a founding member of the South Livermore Valley Area Plan.  Connie’s passion for land preservation stems from her father’s vision.  She hopes to further the goals he originally helped to establish for the Valley.

 

She is actively involved in the community and has served as a Director on the Alameda County Fair Board since 2007 and she is a member of the Martin C. Kauffman 100 Club.

 

Connie received her Juris Doctorate from University of the Pacific - McGeorge School of Law.   She practices law in the area of criminal prosecution.  Connie has been a resident in the Tri-Valley for ten years.  She enjoys hiking, skiing and spending time with family and friends.

Jon Christensen joined the TVC Board as at-large Director in 2010 and is currently serving as Chair of the Land Conservation Committeee and serves on the Resource Development Committee. 

A resident and winegrower in the Tri-Valley since 2005 and of the Bay Area since 1981, he is active in the Livermore Valley Winegrowers Association and has a keen interest in the preservation of the region's rural spaces.

Jon received his BS in Mechanical Engineering from Stanford University in 1986.  He enjoys family activities and is an avid skier.

Matt Ford joined the TVC Board as at-large Director in 2010 and is currently serving on the Land Conservation and Personnel Committeees.   

Matt was born and raised in Reno, Nevada.  He received his undergraduate degree from the University of Nevada and law degree, cum laude, from the University of San Francisco, School of Law. After practicing law with two law firms in Palo Alto and San Ramon, California Matt opened Weston Properties in Livermore, which is a full service commercial, residential, and real estate development firm. 

Additionally, he maintains a law practice focusing on real estate and other business issues.  Matt also serves as the general counsel to Livermore’s Crooked Vine Winery, Stony Ridge Winery and Del Arroyo Vineyards, one of the largest vineyard operators in Livermore.  He also serves on the board of directors for the Joshua L. Anderson Memorial Scholarship Foundation. Matt resides in Livermore with his wife and two children and enjoys spending time with his family, playing golf and softball.

 

Rik Hansen joined the TVC Board as an at-large Director in 2004, is the immediate past Chair and is currently Chair of the Personnel Committee and serviing on the Land Conservation Committee. 

He currently divides his vocational efforts between his family's commercial real estate investment and development business and growing olives and wine grapes on the family ranch in Livermore.  On this same property, he operates the first commercial olive oil press to be built in eastern Alameda County.  The olive oil is marketed under the trademark Arroyo Windmill Groves. 

Rik is the fourth generation of his family to farm in the Livermore Valley.  He attended local elementary schools, graduated from Stanford University with a B.S. in Geology, and earned an MBA in finance from Northeastern University in Boston.  His passions are farming, swimming, reading and motorcycling.  His blessings are his children, Abigail and Andrew.

Norman Petermeirer was appointed to the Board of the Tri-Valley Conservancy in 2011 by the Friends of the Vineyards and currently serving on the Finance Committee and Resource Development Committee.

 

Norm was born and raised on a small Iowa farm, a farmer at heart.  He received a BSEE from Iowa State Univ., a MSEE from San Jose State Univ., a MBA from Santa Clara Univ. and most recently an AS in viticulture from Los Positas College.

He has lived in Silicon Valley since 1963 and moved to Pleasanton in 1996.  He was a practicing design engineer before becoming a company executive.  For 11 years, he taught part time at San Jose State Univ. in the graduate school of engineering (computer architecture). Norm co-founded an electronics company in Pleasanton/Livermore in 1989 which he took public (listed on the NASDAQ) in 1994.  Norm co-holds 35 US patents and has served as a director on 5 electronics companies. 

Norm and his wife Stephanie of 44 years (an avid LV Opera board director) really enjoy the Livermore Valley and all that it has to offer. He has a very small vineyard, owns his own wine making operations – Villa per Due’ and currently works as an enologist for the Ruby Hill Winery.

He enjoys golf, bicycling, gardening, traveling, and family activities. His two daughters and grandkids live in the Bay Area – Pleasanton and Redwood Shores.
